Read through this and you will find out what I mean when I titled this Precious Moments
At 12 I received my first ring. Was it a promise ring? Not really. It was a ring that was given to me from a boy who asked me out in a public library.
At 13 went to riverdale with boy and his sister. Sledding down the hills during winter. That was my first time entering into a bar just for hot chocolate down parliament.
At 14 Went to the Toronto zoo for a classroom field trip. A boy has given me a stuff leopard toy.
At 15 I have been serenaded by a boy that I liked. He knew how to use his guitar
At 16 I received my first kiss from a boy that I learned to care about for 14 months
At 17 Went bowling with a group of friend and a bf during that time. I bowled a strike then he lift me off the ground.
At 18 I went skating at Ryerson Rink with Rong, Jenny and L.B. It was cold and that’s when L.B went out of his way to Tim Horton. We shared a box of tim bits. So much variety.
At 21 I reunited with a lost friend. He asked me out during the night of partying in a Montana bar. That was my first time for everything. Until now I am still with him. It’s been 4 years and counting.
At 22 Went to Winchester school and played cards with my boyfriend. He had beer in one hand and all the while an ant was crawling up our hands.
At 23 My boyfriend, his friend Russel and my friend Sally went to the park where my boyfriend and I tried to play basketball that was the first time he has held me from behind. We were laughing and playing while Sally slept on the bench where Russel kept her company.
Those are the years that I have shared with different boys of my past. Short ones and long ones. I remember them all.
How ever what I write below is what I remembered about when I was was a child with memories of my family.
At 9 I got dressed up and danced with my younger brother who wore a dress and a long hair wig in front of the camera
At 10 I taught my little niece her ABC and 123. She was so cute and adorable. She was only 3 to 4
During my last year of 8th grade I brought her out across an alley way at 9pm at night. A black cat meow and we ran like the wind. Just to get to a store
far Carlton called Subway for the best delicious sandwich.
The niece that I speak of is Linda Yan. We have had a lot of precious moments together. I remember when we went rollerblading she fell flat on her butt while crossing the street car tracks.
Walking towards parliament a man that was crazy put a scare to both of us. We ran but she dropped her sunglasses, she couldn’t leave it behind so she ran back to pick it up. She dash like the wind as I waited for her down the other end.
When she was 6 I dressed her in baggy clothes just to take a picture. I did her hair in cute little curls. The picture is still in the album until this very day.
At Eatons we took a lot of booth pictures and sticker pictures making funny faces.
Years has passed and as we are at 25 and she is 18 or 19 we laugh at our journey.
With my father it is funny. We like to fool around only when there is company. During a party occasion he would dress as a women just to entertain but however as he reaches his retiring age he no longer party anymore. He loves to keep his hand busy building things with his old two hands.
2003 was when my friend finally came from Cambodia to live with the man that she married since 2000. Her name is Nalin Phon. She’s a few months older than me. She a very bright young women with strong ambitions. Speaks several language, Chinese, Cambodian, English and etc. She loves to travel that was why she worked as a tourist guide for Singapore. She’s a funny person that loves to make people laugh. She sings and she writes. In January I took her to tour the Bay and eat at Pizza hut for the very first time. She didn’t realize that her flies were down. We both laugh and this was what she is “no wonder I felt a cold breeze down there”. She was the closet to I had since I didn’t have any sisters. We felt the connection from our first set of letter.
I remember when I flown to Cambodia to meet Nalin for the very first time. She was very friendly. We got a long instantly. When I was sick it was her and her mother that took care of me. When her family invited us over for dinner, my father video recorded the whole event. She fed me mango with her own two hands and I did the same.
Driving through the center market in Cambodia stuck in traffic. I was humming a song and she forced me to sing. She told me that I sang beautifully.
She only stayed here for a year and her life came crashing down. The marriage she was in was not working. She lost her first baby due to a miscarriage. The man she gave her heart to became an abusive husband. She cried many nights. She was kicked out and sent to living with her sister. I thought I was a friend but I didn’t understand why she had to keep this from me. When I last seen her at Downsview Station. I asked what is wrong? She replied. “I am in big trouble, no body can help me.” I couldn’t stay to help relieve her pain. I was running late for work. When I came home I found her sister crying in my mother’s arms. My father told me that Nalin decided to take her life. Leaving a piece of writing in explaination. She took a knife and slit her throat in the home of her sister is where she was living. No one knew what she wanted to do because she did it secretly once everyone was gone to work. It was the owner of the house that spotted her body. Her face that turned blue and a blood puddle so big. She called my mother and that’s when she went there and seen the Nalin’s body as well. At the same time in shock but she had to help her pregnant sister Monica to prevent her to take two lives.
Note: Her death is not a precious moment part of my life but it’s when she was alive that I keep precious to my heart. I still think of her till this very day.

- In west Virginia in a motel. Rong and the others played donkey. I gave her a penny that she kept between her toes. It made her won a lot of games that’s why she named it her lucky penny
- In art class our task was to do a portrait of our selves by using a pocket mirror that was my first time that I receive a mark higher than 30.
- In Chemistry class when I got up to pick up papers that was when I realize a boy that was cute couldn’t keep his eyes off of me.
- In a hospital cafeteria standing in line. I was with a friend that I sort of like as a sister was giving me some make up advice when two guys were trying to hit on us. They were throwing little pieces of paper and one just happen to fall in my top.
